Months of any length, in any number. Eras that count their own years, running
alongside each other — so the coast can date things from the Salt Accord
while the interior still counts from the founding. Every age, every lifespan,
every event is worked out in the calendar you invented.
Your Calendar, Not Ours
Genealogy software was built for real families and real calendars. Ask it
about a six-hundred-year-old elf and it argues with you.
Lineage was built the other way round. You define your species and how long
they live, your calendar and what its months are called, and where your eras
begin and end. Then it checks your world against your own rules: a child born before their parent, someone attending a battle after they died, a life
longer than their kind allows. It re-checks on every edit, so you find the
contradiction while you're writing rather than after a reader does.
Continuity Checker

Timelines Drawn From the Same Cast

Charts and timelines are two views of one world. Change a birth date on a family tree and it moves on the timeline. Click an era to see only what happened inside it, a track to follow one thread of history, or a character to trace their life and everything they touched.
Choose what elements you want to see on your timeline.
Free covers one world and fifty characters, with every feature that makes a world: trees, timelines, eras, calendars, continuity checking, portraits, and your data exportable at any time.
The Author plan is $4.99 a month for ten
worlds, five hundred characters each, and public links.
What It Costs & What You Get

F.A.Q.
Can I use my own calendar with custom months?
Yes. Name your months, give each one any number of days, and set as many
eras as your world needs. Every date and age in the app is worked out in
your calendar rather than a real one.
Does it work for characters who live for centuries?
Yes. You set the lifespan for each species (elves, dwarves, or anything you've
invented) and the continuity checker measures against that rather than a
human lifetime.
Can readers see my family tree?
On the paid plan you can publish a world, a chart or a timeline as a
read-only link and put it on your own site. Anything marked hidden is left
out of the reader's copy entirely.
Can I export my work?
At any time, on any plan. Export a world or your whole library as a JSON
file, and export any chart as a PNG or JPEG at print resolution.
Does it work on a phone or tablet?
Reading and editing, yes. Pinch to zoom, and the tools fold into a menu.
Arranging a large family tree wants a bigger screen.
